Titus 2. Forum Discussion

When studying scripture, it is important to ask ourselves the following (2) questions:

  • How does the scripture apply to me?
  • What actions can I take based on what I have just read to be more like Christ?

Paul writes to Titus in verse 2, “Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.” Paul describes these attributes that we all can aspire to have. We can become more like Christ by asking ourselves, “How am I doing in each of these areas?”

  • Being temperate (doing things in moderation)
  • Acting in a dignified way
  • Acting sensibly
  • Being sound in our faith
  • Being sound in love
  • Showing perseverance

We are all sinners and all flawed, so none of us will be able to do all these things all the time. At different times in our lives, we will experience successes and failures. The important thing is to reflect on all these noble characteristics and come up with specific actions that we can take to put them to work in our lives.

How about you? Do any of these 6 items speak to you and give you something that you can act on to become more like Christ?

Paul also provides similar items for: older women, young men, and bondslaves. As you read through Titus 2 and all the Bible, asking yourself these (2) questions will bring blessings to your life and glory to God.

TWO QUESTIONS

  • How does the scripture apply to me?
  • What actions can I take based on what I have just read to be more like Christ?

Amen
