1 Timothy 5. Forum Discussion

In today’s chapter, Paul instructs Timothy about how to treat: our elders, those that are younger than us, widows, and the Elders in our church.  He encourages Paul to maintain the principals that he has been taught and to not show any favoritism.  We are reminded that we are reading a letter that was addressed to somebody else when Paul instructs Timothy to, “No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.”

Paul’s relationship with Timothy is a special one.  His love and concern for Timothy come through in his letter.  If we are lucky, we each have somebody in our lives that acts like a Paul to us.  Somebody who believes in us.  Somebody who encourages us.  Somebody who teaches us and shows us how to grow in Christ.  And if we are wise, we continue to work on ourselves and study God’s word so that we too may be like Paul to the “Timothy’s” that we come across in our own lives.

Our Creator has put so much thought into His word.  From how to treat widows, to how to respect our elders and even how to address stomach ailments.  It is a blessing to be in God’s word every day.  - Amen

God's plan is for us to take care of each other. Family taking care of family. And in the lack of family, the Church.
